How will the donations be spent?

Jeju-NU International Students Organization (JISO) and the Student Council So-Ara carried out a fund-raising campaign for the victims of the Nepal Earthquake from April 29 to May 5. An overall amount of 4,518,350 won was donated during the campaign. The money will be transferred to the prime minister of Nepal. Then the donations will be equally split and sent to places in need which in the affected areas.

It will be used primarily for emergency aid like helping the people who lost their homes and possessions. The money will supply the basic needs and for people living in temporarily housing. The money will also provide hygienic supplies to prevent diseases from spreading among the people.

Shreedhar Devkota (Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering), Pradeep Adhikari (Department of Science Education), Suresh Rai (Department of Nuclear and Energy Engineering) and Krishna Prasad Bhandari (Korean Language Study) are Jeju-NU students from Nepal who started the fund-raising.

   In an interview with The Islander, Pradeep Adhikari commented, “In this tragedy, we thank all those who kindly helped the victims of Nepal. We heartily request to everyone: Please help.”
