Starting from August, the bus transferring system in Jeju Island has changed to the surprise of the Islanders.
Jeju government’s officials stated, “The reason for the change is that until now the way to transfer had been different between local buses and inter-city buses. This caused confusion to tourists and bus riders. Also there have been complaints when using local buses and there were not enough time to transfer.”
“There are buses that come once every hour or two hours. It was hard for me to transfer even with the hour limit. Now I have to pay the bus fare twice as much,” said Sim So-Yeon (Faculty of Bioscience & Industry).
“Sometimes the bus if filled to max capacity. There is little time and opportunity to tag my bus card to the machine. I wish they had not changed the rules,” said Jo Ah-Young (Journalism & Public Relations, 3).
