The separate collection and dumping of trash are serious problems in schools. There are many wastebaskets in the school, not only one. However, it seems that the garbage collection efforts are not working properly. In particular, food processing seems difficult.

The cafeteria contains food waste bins, but it is the only place to discard the food. Also, people cannot throw away food on the weekend or after the cafeteria is closed. So, often, students only have the option to throw away trash from the bathrooms or their general trash.

In the Student Union Hall on the second floor, there is also writing and drawings that states, “There is the effort of cleaning workers in this area.”, “Thanks to the water in the coffee, I grew up very fast. –All the worms-”, “Is this your room? Get rid of it and live!”

Meanwhile, in the dormitory, the trash cans were removed from in the building in order to create a pleasant environment conducive to hygiene. Then a ‘clean house’ was installed outdoors. Students who use the clean houses should separate their paper, general trash, incineration, glass wares, and plastics into different waste bins.

Warnings were issued if they discarded their waste without separating the garbage or illegally throwing away trash in the building. Many students, however, do not dispose of garbage or dispose of food properly, causing problems such as spoiling and odor.

Eventually, students need to improve their awareness and willingness to follow the trash policies. One should think about the environment and the hard work of the cleaning workers, and then think twice about throwing away trash.

Students at Jeju-NU should not forget that each student is a member of the community and need to be considerate and to cooperate to help students study in a pleasant environment. In this respect, students need to change their behavior when they consider where they live. Also, Jeju-NU maybe should make more food trash cans.
