On November 23, Professor Song Seok-Eon(Law School) got 63.3% of the votes at presidential election primary. For this result, Prof. Song Seok-Eon is selected for top priority candidate as 10th Jeju-NU President. The presidential vote winner, Prof. Song Seok-Eon, also met the press with his on the university’s present and future policy on November 24.

Between November 6 to 7, the application for the candidates was proceeded in both online and offline from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There are the policy debate which consisted of the primary, secondary, and tertiary. These were held at each November 9, 16, 21 at Seminar Room in College of Humanities No.2. These were broadcasted in a live coverage by Information Telecommunication Center.

In the exacting procedure, four candidates applied in this presidential election. There are Prof. Kang Sung-Ha(School of Medicine), Prof. Lee Nam-Ho(Chemistry and Cosmetics), Prof. Song Seok-Eon(Law School), and Prof. Kim Chul-Soo(Computer Science and Statistics).

The presidential vote was held three times on November 23. Before the voting, four candidates had a joint speech meeting at 9:20 a.m. After this, the first voting was held from 10 a.m. to noon, the second was from 14:30 to 16:30, and the last was from 19:00 to 20:00. The ballot was counted after each periods.

In this ballot count, Prof. Song Seok-Eon came out on top from the final vote tally. He earned 362 ballots out of 572 eligible voters after three primary election votes. Prof. Kang Sung-Ha(School of Medicine) got 210 votes(36.7 percent) in the final casting of ballots.

The both candidates will be recommended as the next president of the university to the Ministry of Education, and the final appointee will be made after the ministerial and presidential reviews of the candidates. On the basis of the policy opined at a Pusan National University event, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Education Kim Sang-Gon is likely to recommend the top vote getter to the President for his final appointment.
