Do you know why people usually do not trust the public broadcasting? In korea, there are KBS, MBC as the public broadcasting. 

Nowadays, these are not doing well for public. I knew that these broadcasting labor unions are on strike.  I was very curious about this situation. So, I watched <Criminal Conspiracy> to find the real problem.

It began when Lee Myung-Bak was appointed as a president in 2008. Lee changed KBS chairman of the board to 'his person'. At that time, the board of directors fired KBS CEO. The new CEO, who was behind the government, took the position. They started to liquidate employee and removed the programs that criticize the government. After this, MBC also did it too. The program members went non-production department.

Employees go out of strike for dissent about this. They could not handle of speaking for government. The labor union head of MBC said, “We should always present an honest and accurate broadcasting to viewers but now we can’t. This is the last resistance we can do.” They made a slogan ‘People of nation are only the owner.’, ‘We will back to people of nation.’ It was a longest strike going on 170days. As a result, The CEO of broadcastings are dismissed. And new CEO took the place, but they defended the government.

The new Park Geun-Hye government has been established, KBS CEO gathered the news chiefs and instruct them defend and promote the new ruling party. At that time, I was watched many news announce president doing out of official meeting. I thought she was doing good. But now I realize it was like North Korea news.

Meanwhile in 2014, ‘Sewol ferry disaster’ has occurred. As we know the news gave a false report. I saw live that day morning. That moment it was lie, I was very shocked. Just looking the ship was sink with passengers. Mokpo MBC news chief confirmed the fact and called to Seoul office. But they did not announce quickly because of gate keeping. Of course, we have right to know what is going on and what makes disaster. If we notice the truth more quickly, maybe there was some ways to save more people who is died now. After that in 2016, the ‘Choi Soon-Sil scandal’ was happened. It was big national issue but KBS and MBC did not report it. They disturb discovering of truth, blur the scandal’s essence. People called them as trash reporter. They are fall into bottom, many people leaved their news. Why we watch news that defends government?

Nowadays, the new government sets in but a lot of things were less. KBS and MBC labor union go on strike since this year Sep. 4th. MBC removed CEO and strike ended on Nov. 15th. KBS is still on strike. I realized a roles and power of the press from this movie. And I’m mad of government pressure of media and the Criminal Conspiracy that I know now. There are many people who fight for the right public broadcasting. About 300 people had unfair disciplinary action. They just wanted right media that can report what they and people want. I hope the new CEO will not following the same way as before. So, people’s faith to public broadcasting can be return.
