The Islander would like to introduce two ways to fully enjoy the Jeju Olle Trail. First is Play the Jeju, which is an outdoor activity game combined with digital technology, developed by Jeju Techno Park, and second is Clean Olle campaign, the volunteer activity to clean Olle trails while walking along the trail.

Firstly, Play the Jeju, “Finding the Riddle of the Red Coral” has twelve missions to complete while walking Jeju Olle Trail route number seven. You need to use the given cards to find the answers, which are usually related to Jeju Culture. The missions are somewhat tricky, so we had to put our heads together. We felt proud after solving difficult questions. It was meaningful since we went through the hardship together and learned unfamiliar Jeju dialects. While moving to the mission sites, we could enjoy great sightseeing in Jeju, for example, Oedolgae, a rock standing out in the sea apart and was named for its loneliness, Hwanguji Coast, also known as Seonnyeo-tang, the natural pool which is great for snorkeling with emerald color water, and Cheonjiyeon waterfall. We felt the nature of Jeju by moving on foot and resting for a while in the beautiful spots. It helped us to get rid of stress from the hectic schedule of university students for a while. However, it took longer than expected because the level of the quizzes was high. For us, it took six hours and forty minutes, including meal and cafe time. Therefore, I recommend you start walking around 10 a.m. because it is dangerous to walk late at night. Also, I advise you to prepare water, pen, notebook, and especially a hat that can block sunlight

JNU students are privileged to have firsthand experiences related to nature whenever they want. Still, if you feel reluctant to start walking a long route of Jeju Olle Trail, how about giving it a try by playing the game and doing volunteer work while walking?
