Hello, my readers. The mild days of spring have come to us. Did you make new goals and resolutions? I flutter with new hopes and desire to have a good year, and also hope you keep the resolutions consistently. Well, I momentarily forgot to introduce myself to you. I am a new Editor-in-Chief of The Islander, Song Hee- Sook. I'm really happy to greet you on the first page.

Above all, our team of The Islander wants to extend our thanks to you for your constant interest. It is the first campus magazine I published as the chief editor, so I seriously thought what problems The Islander has and discussed them with my staff members. We all thought that it needed to keep the pace with the times to reward your support. We determined to make new changes to the magazine. Wasted pages were removed to improve quality, so the total number of the pages is changed from 44 pages to 32. Only some pages were colorful in the past, but now all pages are changed to be colorful to give readers visual delight. We also eliminated some articles that you can read via the web, because we want to offer you the original articles. Furthermore we tried to offer information on our colleges as well as the problems and culture of Jeju.

This 227th issue has many stories: various scholarship systems which you don't know about, students' financial technology, a discussion about the political indifference with other schools' students, a travel story of India, an amateur actor' diary and an interview with conductor Jang Hong Young.

Reader! Are you scared of reading the English magazine? Remove that worry and just try to read it. All reporters tried to write the articles in correct and easy English. Have you ever read The Times  or Newsweek ? Although I am a reporter delivering news in English, it's difficult for me to read it. Sometimes when I teach my junior reporters, I always tell them that good writing is easy and lucid to understand regardless of who readers are. The Times is difficult for us to read, but I never want to tell you it is bad. All people know that it is one of the most famous international magazines. I just hope that you read our magazine written in easy English. Then you can get rid of your fear of English, furthermore you can get good information on the inside and outside of CNU. I can positively assure you that. Do you want to read it quickly? Then it's time to  for me finish. I hope you have a great time with The Islander throughout 2007.
