On Nov. 5, Jeju-NU Educational Science Research Institute (ESRI) invited Dr. Nigel Dower from Aberdeen England, holding a seminar with the theme ‘the cultivation of global citizenship’. A former Aberdeen director in United Nations Association and a specialist and consultant in Earth Charter and IUCN, Dr. Dower is renowned in the field of sustainable development, ethics, human rights, and global citizenship.

Jeju-NU ESRI is preparing to publish a Korean translated version of his book, ‘An Introduction to Global Citizenship’, which is recommended by Oxford Committee for Famine and Relief.

This translation and seminar are chosen as a part of the academic support projects from Korea International Cooperation Agency and Korea Association of International Development and Cooperation. The translated book will be officially published early next year.

At this seminar, many attended, including not only Jeju-NU officials, but also elementary and junior high school teachers, foreigners, the UNITAR-CIFAl Jeju manager, the Jeju international relations ambassador, Jeju city council members, which led to a good example of discussing the cultivation of  global citizenship and searching the direction for growth, ESRI stated.
