▲ May 27 was 61st Opening Day of Jeju-NU.
As a part of the anniversary event, there were president's address and award ceremony on May 24.

Huh Hyang-Jin, the eighth president of Jeju-NU, said, “When we look at human life, 60 means the Second Act. Celebrating Jeju-NU's 61stSchool Opening Anniversary, Jeju-NU must start to ‘take-off for the creative second act’; 2013 will be the first year of that.”

He added in his school opening address, “Society needs cultured people who have morality and humanity. The surrounding situation now is a chance but at the same time, it could be a threat. In order to adapt to those circumstances, Jeju-NU has to start ‘Joyful creative development’ through diverse changes and challenges.”

According to the President's Address on May 24, five main things will be upgraded and prepared-approaching 10% improvement in status and ability, investing more in specialized industry, scholarships for studies, making pleasant working and learning environments and preparing systems for employment rate.

On the same day, there was an award ceremony for faculties, students and contributors of Jeju-NU.
Also, on May 27, there was an invitation event for retired professors to praise their efforts and to discuss about the way to develop.
Jeju-NU authorized the establishment of the ‘Cheju Elementary University’ on May 27, 1952. They arranged the Yong-dam Campus two years later. It was moved to Ara Campus in 1980. Now Jeju National University has 9 postgraduate schools, 12 colleges and over 10,000 students.

Last year, Jeju-NU was judged to be the 5th best in the nation in educational conditions and environment. Jeju-NU LINC (Leaders in Industry) Cooperation was also won first place as a ‘Honam, Jeju-based’ enterprise.
