Professor Oh Hong-Shik of the Department of Science Education Jeju-NU was elected as President of the Korean Society for Ornithology at a recently held annual meeting of the society in Seoul Nov. 1.

The presidential term is for two years starting January 1, 2014.

Professor Oh pledged to serve effectively the membership and the public and governmental agencies concerned with the preservation of birds and for the research and development activities.

The birds society was established in 1991, and its current membership amounts more 500 from Korea and abroad.

Professor Oh has been active in performing research, especially in the area of wild animals.
