Spring, the season when the cherry blossom comes out is coming back. Every spring, students of Jeju-Nu gather by twos and threes on a lawn and drink alcohol with cherry blossoms blooming around them.

This led The Islander to investigate if drinking alcohol is allowed on campus and how students knew for sure.

The policy of Jeju-NU does not contain a rule which prohibit alcoholconsumption on campus.

The law that bans drinking on campus was a small controversy on a national scale because of accidents which was caused by alcohol. But, as of now, the university does not ban drinking alcohol on campus nor was there ever a specific law against it.

Jeju-NU student council, So-Ara, says it does not recommend or encourage drinking on-campus. It is okay if students enjoy drinking within their limits and if it does not interrupt their studies.

They also state that there is no policy that bans it, but as the representative of Jeju-NU student body, if there were any problems that involved alcohol, the rules might definitely change.
