“Unitatem in Fortitudo” or ‘Unity in Strength’ is the motto of JISO. The logo itself is a mirror that reflects the bond of the JISO members share. So what is JISO? Jeju National University International Students Organization is the extended form, but the term “JISO” is primarily used for convenience.

The foremost objective of JISO is to create a platform for the international students to gather, to interact and to voice their opinions and concerns to university officials on diverse matters. At present, about 820 foreign students are enrolled at Jeju-NU. Although some are unaware, all of them are members of JISO.

JISO is in charge of three major annual events. These are the Food Festival, International Students’ Sports Day and International Students’ Day.

Most university students and visitors were able to enjoy the Food Festival 2015, which was held in accordance with Ara-Festival from May 26 to 28. It was a delightful experience especially for Korean citizens to experience the different food from across the world and it was indeed a successful event organized by JISO. To provide a brief description about the other events, International Student’s Sports Day is scheduled for June 20, which shows off JISO members’ sound body and spirit, team work and determination. Several popular sports will occupy the day bringing out the true sportsmanship within the contestants.

The International Students’ Day is the spotlight event as it comprises of colourful themes and items played by different countries. It is also the ideal moment for international students to exhibit the unique features of their homeland cultures with music, dance or drama. The event is scheduled for 24th of September 2015 and will be held at the Ara-Muse Hall.

Apart from the events, JISO will deliver assistance in problems related to foreign students by communicating their concerns to people in charge until a satisfactory step is taken. JISO is also well reputed for working hand in hand with the Korean student unions and the International Student’s Centre to accomplish any given tasks.

To ensure the proper function of JISO, the executive committee and the country representatives work hard to validate JISO as a responsible student body. Only through unity there is strength. The beauty of it comes with the variety in uniting but acting as a one true family. The key point of the JISO is various cultures and different languages functioning in harmony for a common goal. These are the unique features of JISO, which stands apart from any other international student organization.
