Try your hand at non-school affiliated scholarships

Where do you usually get your scholarships for the school tuition fee?

Every semester, many students face pressure from their massive tuition fees and are stressed out with the uncertainty of obtaining school scholarships. Many of them are only struggling even with school scholarships.

However, there is another great way to boost your school life through ‘non-school affiliated scholarships’. They are generally supported by companies or foundations.

Unfortunately, many students are not taking advantage of these opportunities. For example once you are selected as a scholarship student, it guarantees you full tuition fee for all your next semesters until graduation. Plus some of the foundations provide you with extra living expenses.

Also, you only need to stay above a certain grade point average to continue to stay on the scholarship. Normally the average is B+ and over. This puts less pressure on students to get straight A’s and more time for self-development.

Another advantage to these scholarships is that it is a great way to network and meet new people at events that scholarship foundation provides.

Currently, there are scholarships such as the Expressway Scholarship Foundation. This scholarship is for students with a parent or guardian that have been injured in expressways or hurt from working in construction.

The Dooeul Scholarship Foundation is for aspiring female student leaders. There is also a Dasom scholarship from the ASAN Foundation for multi-cultural students, and even a scholarship from the Daewoong Foundation for foreign students studying in Korea.

Those scholarships can be easily found on Jeju-NU’s homepage.

Never be afraid of applying for those scholarships if you meet the terms of the scholarships and just do it. No trying, no gain but once you try to do, there must be a chance at least.
