Jeju National University ranked 29th in Korea at the “Joong An Il Bo” Education Ranking 2015. Looking at the fresh news about the university, I feel sadder to think that all that exists in the world should be ranked and then should be proud of Jeju National University that we are studying at.

People are used to comparing one with others, well even ourselves with other people. Moreover, people wax warm to it that which is more superior and which is more inferior.

However, comparing and ordering of person to person are impossible primarily because we don’t carry the same characters such as interests, sense of value and ability to doing something well. We do not possess same material things either.

Comparison has never ended nor will ever end. After comparing yourself with someone, you again compare yourself with another someone. Well, someone will never be out-of-stock.

One’s own life is made by oneself. The life you’re living is only yours, no one else’s. Comparison is intervening with your own life with other people. As a matter of fact, all basis of comparison should be derived from oneself so that we can outgrow yesterday. We should rather try to find what we are interested in, what our sense of value is, and how well we do something is. In this way, we can grow internally and externally.

How often have we heard this topic, and we agree. However, have we done anything to improve ourselves to see the effectiveness of this thought?

After all, no one can satisfy oneself, but keeps making himself hurt and unhappy. One’s own life is made by oneself and every people want to live happily. Then, those who want to live happily should find happiness in their own life. Only focus on yourself: compare you of now and you of yesterday. Do your best that you may reach your goal and not of others.
