The government is continuously pushing for a campaign to fundamentally reduce disposable products and plastics. In order to build a successful model of the de-plastic movement in life and to control the spread of disposable products, Jeju plans to expand regulations on the use of throwaway items and implement a disposable cup deposit system. The restrictions will be implemented further starting from November 24th. The main content is to regulate paper cups, disposable straws, and stir sticks in restaurants and cafes. Also, general retailers will be prohibited from providing disposable shopping bags. In addition, disposable umbrella vinyl will be restricted in large stores. Finally, there will be regulation on disposable items and supporting goods at sports facilities. All these actions will take effect collectively at all franchises and private cafes starting from December 2. The deposit amount is set at 300 won and can be refunded at stores other than the purchase store regardless of the disposable cup brand. The main emphasis of the system is that the deposit amount is included in the product price when using a disposable cup, and that the security deposit will be refunded when returning the cup. Reducing disposable products in everyday life begins with our small practice
