JNU library is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday. You can always go and borrow the books that you want during this time. However, there may be people who are unable to go during these opening hours. For those people, our school library provides a service to check out books at night.

The overnight checkout service is a service that can be used by all students, faculty, and library members who do not have any late return book penalties. You can utilize this service without actually going to the library. Go to the website of JNU’s Central Library, log in, and search for the desired book to check the status. Next, if you click the ‘available’ hyperlink next to the book you want, you will find the “night” button under the “service” button. Once you click the ‘night’ option, your loan is complete. Book loan requests can be made up to 17:00. It is possible to borrow up to five books per person a day. You can take the books from 18:00, which is the closing time of the day, to 11:00 a.m. the next day.

Books are placed on the machine in front of the main gate of the Central Library. If the reservation is confirmed, a text message will be sent. After receiving the text message, you will be able to take the book by visiting the unmanned book loan machine and recognizing your mobile library card. The overnight checkout service is a service to help us borrow books even at night. However, unmanned book loan machines can only accommodate up to 23 people a day because of the number of books the machine can handle. If there are more than 23 people, the next person may be canceled. If you want to borrow a book at night, a quick reservation is recommended.
