Jeju will hold a launching ceremony for the emergency medical helicopter on the 29th at the Citizens' Welfare Town Square. The medical helicopter starts operation on December 1st. Advanced in-flight medical devices are set up in the helicopter. And emergency medical care is possible through the helicopter, with specialized medical personnel such as emergency medical doctors and nurses on board. It allows quick treatment while moving from the accident site to the hospital, aiding in sustaining the patients' lives and safety. The deployment of doctor helicopters in Jeju is the eighth case in Korea. Jeju is three times larger than Seoul and 2.4 times larger than Busan. There are many mountainous and island areas, so Jeju has been pushing for the introduction of doctor helicopters and it will operate from sunrise to sunset throughout the year. Patients will transfer to Jeju Halla Hospital, where they will receive treatment at the regional trauma center. The helicopter will be stationed at Halla Hospital in Jeju, and the mooring site was set up in Suwon-ri, Namwon-eup, Seogwipo-si. It is hoped that this new access to emergency medical services will improve the current limited situation such as responding to smaller islands’ emergency situations, mountainous areas, and maritime accidents that take a long time to transport patients.
