The Japanese Language and Literature Student Association of JNU, — Hibiki — successfully conducted its 44th ‘Wave Festival’ on November 24. Paranjae means ‘Wave festival’ in English. Since the event is held only once a year, both professors and students had high expectations. Students from other departments in JNU could also join the several booths, performances, and song festivals. The booths offered students a range of opportunities to engage with Japanese culture, including guessing famous quotes from films, dramas, and animations. Also, there were activities like moving beans with chopsticks, making omamori, playing hayaguchi kotoba, and areas where you could take pictures. Omamori is known for providing various forms of luck or protection. As such, students made wishes through omamori. On the other hand, hayaguchi kotoba is a Japanese tongue twister game. Through this game, students were able to practice Japanese pronunciation. Many students posed for photos in the area that was set up to resemble Japanese shrines. Additionally, the play included a parody of the 2007 Japanese drama "Boys Over Flowers." The show, in which students from various grades participated, also made their experiences memorable. Because the students acted in Japanese, the play left a great impression on the audience.  Parangjae also hosted the song festival that included a unique narrative. The students made their performances more interesting by introducing their own stories before singing. Everyone worked together to hold an event that celebrated the heritage and history of the Japanese literature department. Fortunately, it ended successfully, satisfying the students’ expectations
