Various Ways to Communicate and Promote with Foreigners

The Jeju INTL Tourism Marathon Festival was held on May 21. 3500 people including 100 foreigners took part in this festival. The marathon course was10 km from Kimnyeong-ri to Jongdal-ri. The goal of this event was to promote tourist attractions and in consequence, participants from Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand were in attendance. Jeju Tourism Association, which executed the festival, worked to promote Jeju Island abroad in cooperation with tourism association organizations of each aforementioned countries. The first festival day was sunny and various participants from different countries including Korea were there and created a harmonious atmosphere. One participant in the marathon commented that it was indeed a rare chance to run alongside the beautiful Jeju oceans. She also added that the massive scale presence of the safety guards and localized police was more than enough to allow her to take part in the race with an easy mind. Organizers also responded quickly by operating an emergency medical room, dealing with safety issues that arose during the marathon process as its top priority. In addition, they did not forget to clean up the environment around the marathon course through the "Jupjen Beach Clean Event", a project involving influencers and YouTubers using SNS. Organizers said that their future aim was to interact with more diverse countries based on this festival. This festival has been held every year since 1995 and celebrated its 27th anniversary this year.
