The 43rd Parnassus, hosted by JNU English Education Department, was held on August 24th, at Ara Muse Hall. This annual festival has the longest history among the many festivals in JNU. Featuring English act Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland as the main event, various experience booths, an English pop song contest, dancing and more took place, all prepared and performed by English Department students.

The 39th Helicon, hosted by JNU English Literature Department, was held on September 6th, at Ara Muse Hall. Musical 10 Things I Hate about You, pop-song contest, and prize lottery took place.
 

The 17th JEBS Film Festival, hosted by JNU Educational Broadcasting System, will be held on September 26th, at Ara Muse Hall. This year’s theme is “if.” Several short ‘if-themed’ films will be screened and then there will be a winner announcement. 

The 12th Jeju Model UN Conference, hosted by JNU Political Science & Diplomacy Department, will be held from October 4th to 5th, at Ara Convention Hall. This year’s conference agenda is ‘international community’s cooperation regarding international migration & refugee problems.

Almost every College in JNU does a sports festival in May. On the other hand, only the College of Education does a sports festival in September, due to teaching practice season in May. Although the participation is exclusive to College of Education students, it can be an opportunity to feel the energy of youth in September.

▶Jeju Events In September: Summer is over, Fall is coming! 

It is finally September. The second semester has begun, and it is time to say good bye to the hot summer because fall is coming! Jeju Island has many events in September to offer!  <By Si Ae-Alice-Hwang>

First, there is the “Nuwemaru Festival” from September to October. This is a music festival. There will be busking performances by talented local people, and concerts by various of famous artists such as “Norazo,” “BolBbalGan4 (BOL4),” “Lee Jung,” and more. There is no entrance fee, so you can enjoy it for free! The event will be held in the Nuwemaru-Street (which was once called BauzenStreet) in the New-down town of Jeju.

Do you feel bad because summer is passing by and you still want to enjoy dynamic activities? Then have some fun at the “Leisure Sports Festival.” This festival is being held for the 20th time this year. The “National Mini Drone Racing Competition” category has been added this year from the original six pre-existing events such as the Triathlon, National Inline Hockey Competition, National Fishing Competition, National Wind Surfing and Kiteboarding Competition, and the Stone Mound Golf Competition. Thanks to the newcomer, the event is getting big attention. A variety of flea markets, regional specialties product sections, and experience booths will take place also. The event will be held in different places depending on the date.

The “Jeju City Bus” is running during the night until the 19th of October. The bus visits Jeju's famous night spots. First, it starts at 18:30 from the 3rd bus stop of Jeju National Airport, which is located in front of Gate No.2 on the 1st floor. Then it stops at ‘IhoTeu Lighthouse,’ which is great for taking snap pictures. Next, it stops at Dodubong for a short 30 minutes of tracking. After that, passengers can have a night picnic and enjoy street performances on Eoyoung Coastal Road for 30mins. Next, is ‘Sanjicheon’ where there is a fountain show with cool streams and exciting music. Last but not the least, it stops at the night market in the Dongmun Traditional Market where people can enjoy various snacks and foods. The program is perfect to those who want to travel Jeju Island in a short time at night effectively.

If you want to see beautiful seasonal flowers, there are also events such as the “Hueari Pink Muhly Festival” and the “Sanghyowon SunPatiens Festival.” Pink Muhly is a delicate and dreamy pink flower like grass that upgrades the mood around you. For those who like beautiful bright vivid colors, you will love SunPatien flowers. These flower festivals will be a great option to leave beautiful pictures that you will never forget
