Jeju Forum has been held in May every year, but its schedule has changed due to the unprecedented pandemic crisis. It will be held in Jeju from November 5th to 7th, 2020. Jeju Forum also updated its main theme to “Reinventing Multilateral Cooperation: Pandemic and Humane Security” as COVID-19 is the most serious and influential issue today. As a reference, last year’s main theme was “Asia Towards Resilient Peace: for Cooperation and Integration”.

According to the update notice on the Jeju Forum homepage, 

“Jeju Forum 2020 will be an important opportunity for the participants to discuss how to reinvent multilateralism and establish the concept of Humane Security so that we as humankind can effectively respond to new security threats like pandemics and climate change.”

This year, the forum will be held in the Lotte Hotel Jeju. Although the number of participants is highly restricted compared to last year (which was more than 5,550), the sessions will be broadcasted in real-time on YouTube.

One thing worth noticing from this forum is the recruitment of many young workers: ‘Youth Secretariat’ and ‘Operation Supporters’. Youth Secretariat participants can experience the overall process of an international conference like planning, advertising, etc.

Operation Supporters will be helping in the field with preparation, guidance, etc. On the other hand, the ‘Jeju International Architecture Forum 2020’ was cancelled, which was supposed to be held in November.
