As the Ministry of Education instructed universities to implement “Excused Absence for COVID-19 Vaccination”policy, Jeju Nat ional University also changed its attendance recognition policy. Previously, COVID-19 patients, selfquarantine patients, and those who have symptoms were eligible for excused absences. After the alteration, vaccinated people are now granted the same excuse.

Those who are vaccinated are approved of absence only when they have difficulty participating in class due to post-vaccination side effects. They can be excused up to two days from the day the vaccine was received. The absence can be granted for both the first and second injections.

While self-quarantine patients and symptomatic patients can only request excused absence for f ace- to-face classes, vaccinated people can also apply it if they have real-time online lectures. In addition, students who are unable to watch video lessons on time can ask their professor for permission to have an excuse.

When processing an officially approved absence request, a medical certificate for vaccination is required and it needs to submitted online through Hayoung Dreamy system within 7 days after the inoculation. After the application is complete, it will be reflected in the attendance system by the next day.

In order to minimize class interference, JNU encouraged students to book vaccinations for days that does not overlap with their classes as much as possible.
