First, it is the simplicity of the games in the drama. The various games are just traditional Korean games, but they have the simplicity that even the people who have no experience in the games can understand in 30 seconds. I didn't know these games would feel unique and fun to people from other countries because they were mostly familiar games to me as a Korean. However, the games are not popular only because they are simple. The afterglow of the participants’ good, evil, and socially critical messages in the games might have made people fall into “Squid Game” even more.

Second, it is humanism. The 456 participants are victims who cannot adapt to society and have nowhere else to go. Even in a situation where his life is at stake, Ki-hoon, the main character with a good heart, reaches out to the socially disadvantaged, such as a North Korean defector, an elderly man, etc. Even in the cruel world, we could all feel that there is a good person who has yet lost his warmth. Humanism, which was hard to find in the so-called “death game” contents that have been aired in the United States and Japan so far, is a great attraction of Squid Game.
