The ‘Suspicious House’ is a memorial hall of manipulated spy victims located in 14- 4, Doyeon 3-gil, Jeju-si. This house is as odd as its name. It seems like one big house is housing another house. Kang Gwang-Bo, the owner of the Suspicious House is one of the several victims of state violence. Multiple tortures forced an innocent man to confess to be a spy and sentenced him to seven years in prison. While he was in a prison, his parents knew that once he was branded as a spy, he could not live in this society like before. So, they created this space in the shape of a building, embracing the house that he used to live When you step into the house, you can see the café with an exhibition area. His house is being used as an exhibition area which people can find the ‘Gwang-Bo’s study room’ filled with lots of books and articles that he read during prison time. The story, images, and videos of other victims of state violence are also displayed in the exhibition hall. In the coffee shop, visitors can enjoy professional baristas’ coffee and a special drink called, ‘suspicious drink’ made of Hallabong and mandarin orange. These Hallabongs and tangerines were grown by other victims of state violence. On the second floor, there is a room in which café guests can drink a cup of tea while reading books and at the same time look at the scenery of Halla Mountain.
