Udang library in Jeju- si announced that it will run a local culture program school under the theme of ‘My Hometown, Jeju.’ This event provides citizens with an experience to promote the unique historical culture that Jeju people have lived in, and to recognize various traditional cultures properly in the region. Name of this program called ‘Hyang-to Mun-hwa school’, which means local culture school.

This program is organized not only the various lectures but also exploring meaningful places. In the lecture, there will be five classes. In the case of the tour, visits will focus on 4·3 historical places and exile sites. This is a very valuable activity that can only be promoted in Jeju, where it was a place of exile in the past and terrible mass murder occurred against the residents.

The scheduled lectures are always held at the Udang library from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The tour takes place in a different place each time and may vary slightly from the planned time schedule.

A library official said that they hope Jeju residents, who are tired of daily life due to the prolonged COVID-19, will be able to have a time of rest and healing. Although the Jeju 4·3 occurred on the island, residents also don’t know much about the tragedy. This program will be a good opportunity for residents to know more about Jeju 4·3.
