Jeju's natural topography provides a wide array of beautiful vistas, but for those not endowed with a private vehicle, the only way to access such wonders is via the bus routes that snake their way across the island.

The 201 bus traces the entire East coast of the island, mirroring the 202 of the West. The route starts at Jeju bus terminal and ends at Seogwipo bus terminal. Bus drivers in Jeju have garnered a notoriety, and with the three-hour duration, the route in its entirety is not for the faint-hearted. However, for those daring enough, bountiful rewards will be afforded by the island. Those boarding the aforementioned 201 will receive outstanding ocean vantage points, quaint traditional villages and enough locations of interest to satisfy ones every touristic desire.

Departing via Jeju city hall, you will happen upon the Culture and Art Centre where local artists can exhibit their work along with a theatre where performances are held. Nearby, on the outskirts of the city, is the Jeju National Museum which showcases local historical and archaeological artefacts.

If museums aren’t your style, nearby is the international port connecting to many destinations and a short hike up the Sarabong Peak allows for a beautiful overview of the area. If a more extensive hike piques your interest, a few stops away is the Wondangbong Peak, accompanied by a beautiful temple sitting atop the hill. For those not wishing to hike, a better-suited example is found further down the route, the Hyeonjisa Temple.

If a simple photo and some country air will suffice, alight at Jigyeonggom bus stop for views of fertile farmland adorned with large windmills. Continue on the bus, for Seongsan Harbour and the adjoining Peak will come into view, arguably one of the most beautiful sights to see on the island.

Located between Seongsan and Seogwipo is Shincheon ranch. This is a must-visit in the tangerine season as the floor is gilded by orange peel, lay drying out, giving a surreal mandarin glow spanning the horizon. Jeju’s iconic horses can also be found nearby.
