In the highly developed industrial society, the development of competitive technology is rising as the sole alternative because it can be a chance to solve the problem of employment for university students and a chance to develop new technology for a company. Like this, industry-university cooperation can contribute to the growth of a company using high-quality human resources, and a university can get an opportunity to let students experience training. Thus, it is a win-win strategy for each.

Cheju National University (CNU) established its Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation in 2004. It has three kinds of business: first, the large size business, such as Subtropical Life Industry and Eco-friendly Agriculture Business; second, the middle size business, such as Eco-friendly Marine Industry New Frontier Expert Training Business; and third, the small size business, such as Clean Energy Specialized Human Resources Training Business, Jeju International Free City Legal Service Expert Training Business, and Jeju Cultural Contents Industry Expert Training Business.

Among these various projects, the Jeju International Free City Legal Service Expert Training Business that has been promoted since last July, 2004. Trains capable international work forces whom investment companies look for and who are needed in the industries of trade and finance, targeting students at the Dept of. Law and Dept of. Social Science. To train these human resources, various activities have been spread out such as International Education and In-service Training Business, Investment Enterprise Demand Work Force Training Business, International Trade Monetary Law Human Resources Training Business, and Excellent Student Luring Project & Job Countermeasure Project. Moreover, to train the talents which are needed for a successful Jeju International Free City, the project provides a special Chinese lecture and TOEIC lecture for students. It also sends forty students every year to other universities abroad. Ahn So Ra (Faculty of Law. Sophomore) who participated in the program said, "I was so glad to go to the overseas training thanks to the business of the Industry-Academic Coop-eration Foundation. My horizons have been expanded by meeting other people and seeing another world. Also, my contact with the culture of Hawaii was the most important experience of my life. I hope many students can participate in the various programs."

Moreover, in order to give students more chances to experience the overseas training, the Industry-Academic Coope-ration Foundation has the In-service Training Program and an Internship Program that send students local public agencies and local companies. They also try to give many more students scholarships and to provide CEOs' speicial lectures about employment. Like this, we can see that the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at CNU works hard to help students?employment by providing various opportunities.

These days, it is difficult for students to get a job like a camel goes through the hole of a needle. In the past, people were employed by their grades and an interview, but the society has valued their experiences and careers. Thus, the various business that the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at CNU provides for students would be a big help in employment. However, there's a problem that most of students don't know about these programs. Some said the foundation hasn't publicized its programs well. Even though the number of students who can participate in the business is limited, we hope that more students at CNU would have the benefit of the projects of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation so they can have an advantage in the difficult war of employment.
