There happens to be criminal behavior, especially during examination weeks, at a university. It's a crime to steal others?knowledge and efforts, which is cheating; Cheju National University(CNU) is not an except. Tables are filled with conscience and dishonor that are thrown away by students. At one college, there was a head-on clash between a student and an inspector, when the inspector snatched a test paper away from the student who attempted to cheat. At CNU, I saw some students opening textbook impudently during test time.  As a supervisor pointed it out, one student he made an excuse that he had thought the test was an open-book test. More absurd situations is that students act like they are proud of cheating to their friends. The more serious problem is that cheating inspires other cheating. Students know cheating is immoral, but when they see students cheating, they also want to look at the answers.

Cheating is a problem not only in our nation but also in other countries. The New York Times has written about university students' up-to-date cheating techniques and has made it clear that the cheating problem is not trivial anymore. In Vietnam, there was an event that the police intervened in the cheating problem, because cheating materials were sold in great quantities at a copy room of a university. The research about actual cheating conditions of university students, surveyed by National Students' Expulsions Office of Cheating, shows that  46 percent of 5000 students at 54 universities had cheated at least one time.  Like this, cheating is becoming more skillful and has spread throughout the student body. But a countermovement is not sufficient to prevent cheating.

To solve the cheating problem, very important things are students'conscience as well as environments which does not incite them to cheating. However, current environments of examination rooms seem rather to encourage them to cheat. It is impossible for only one professor to supervise many students in a large test room. Besides, some professors pay no attention to supervision. In the middle of a test, some professors leave the test room to get a cell phone or even take care of personal business. For the fair test environment, professors should supervise students strictly and secure at least two assistants. If it is impossible to do that, there is another way to divide students into two groups. Actually one of my professors did so, and she could prevent the students from cheating.

 Just as mentioned above, you can find some plans of prevention of cheating at other nations' universities, and novel measures are in force at the universities. For example, there are "Closed wireless internet," "setting up an observation camera in class," Getting up programs on laptop computer which has only Microsoft Word, emptying memory tubes of calculating machines" and so on. On the other hand, there is another way to choose paper rather than rock. It is a non-supervising system that is by students' check toward each other and conscience, not by steamroller supervision. It is presumed that this way can bring about confusion, but actually it
does not. The non-supervising system is already put in effect. For instance, Handong Global University in Pohang has the effects of the non-supervising system with "The Honor System Committee" which is in charge of students?cheating problem.  Besides, freshmen participate in the "Right of honor system"during the orientation season and sign the 'honor rule' made by the council. Before exams, students sign the content that they will take them honestly. If there is not a signature on the paper, the test paper is not accepted. Students at Handong University proudly say that their non-supervising system is now their culture beyond a campaign. Conscience is the most fearful supervisor in non-supervising system.

 As employment has been difficult for students, their concerns about grades are growing. However, ahead of getting employed at a big company, we should become responsible and proper students first, and it would be the first preparation to be employed.
