Choosing the Philippines to study is really a great opportunity. Most students want to study in the Philippines for two reasons: learning and vacationing.
First is studying. It is one of the reasons why Koreans visit the Philippines. There are a lot of academies to study at and that includes CDU (Cebu Doctors’ University) - ESL (English as a Second Language) center.
This center offers five courses such as Sparta, Comprehensive, Intensive, Enhancement, and IELTS.
Jeju-NU has chosen the Sparta course that has an eight hour class. Subjects are conversational English (1:1), grammar (1:1), group class (1:4, 1:8), and interactive media expression class.
My life in Cebu was much better than I expected. When I went in the orientation, I hesitated because of the tight schedule. I expected a holiday rather than studying. But fortunately, comparing to Korean English study, all the courses are not difficult. Actually Korean conversational class seems like studying in a traditional school. You can't even barely talk, and express yourself.
But in this academy, I had four one on one classes. I spent lots of time on talking. So unlike Korean class, I didn't concentrate on taking down notes.
The next reason is vacation. Cebu, Philippines has lots of beautiful sceneries to visit. I went on a hopping tour of Mactan and Camotes Islands. During the tour I experienced snorkeling. I could see spectacular and colorful corals and lots of tropical creatures like Nemo.
And the food here tastes good and very delicious. It's a bit salty than Korean food but it's awesome. Especially grilled food, you must try it!
Lastly I went to plant mangrove trees and visit an orphanage as a volunteer. In the orphanage, I mingled with some children and it crushed heart.
Most of all, I am so overwhelmed to be here in Cebu. I will cherish the experiences that I've learned in this once in a lifetime program that has been offered by my university. It was the most remarkable happening in my life, and I won't forget it.
