This is the new semester of the 60th anniversary year. It is not comparable to other western universities famous for hundreds of years of their history, but 60 years are also not that short of a period of time. It would be a great opportunity to identify our historical community from the past to the future by seeing our position and future, looking back on the sorrow, sacrifice, hope, frustration, and conquer of seniors and professors who have graduated from our school.

What we should not forget when we recall the 60 years of history is that universities never get old. They just remain youthful with incessant graduations and entrances. Thinking of the university's history is reminiscing about someone's bloom of youth in his or her twenties, rather than remembering someone who is surely now elderly. It means that we remember the ambition and hope of the youths at that time, or maybe frustration and conquest.

At the same time, we figure out what our ambition and desire are. I want to ask. What are the hope and ambition of youths who are in Jeju-NU now, at this new semester of 2012. Job? It is an important matter, but not a satisfying answer. There remains a question of what comes next after finding a job.

“2030 youth politics” is a big issue nowadays. Every party is trying to court youths in their twenties or thirties who serve as the core of new communications like SNS these days. The problem is youth generation's identity. Whether “2030 youth politics” will stay as only a subject of court from existing political force or revolutionize the existing political force with a new critical mind is up to their identity.

Of course there will be interests that 2030 youths pursue. However, the important thing is that whether they can sublimate their own interests into the whole society's interests and expand it to the common agenda. It means 2030 youths should have critical minds. History in the future will remember this critical mind and practices. Now, the 2030 youth generation is on the historical test.
