May 27, 1952  Established and opened Cheju Provincial Junior College 

Apr.  6, 1955  Upgraded to a four-year College('Cheju University') 

Mar.  1, 1962  Became Cheju National University 

Mar.  1, 1964 Newly built and moved the Department of Science and Agriculture to a new campus in seogwipo 

Aug. 8, 1977  Started Building the Ara Campus 

Dec. 30, 1978  Got approval to establish the Graduate School and the Graduate School of Education 

Mar. 15, 1979  Moved the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries from Seogwipo to the Ara Campus 

Feb. 28, 1980  Completed the integrated campus in Ara 

Mar. 1, 1982  Upgraded to a comprehensive university

(with 5 colleges and 39 departments) 

Mar. 6, 1984  Established Cheju Junior High/ High School, affiliated with the College of Education 

Mar. 1, 1988  Separated the College of Social Sciences into the College of Law and Political

Science and the College of Economics & Commerce 

Mar. 1, 1990  Established the Graduate School of Business Administration 

Mar. 1, 1991  Established the Graduate School of Public Administration 

Mar. 1, 1997 Established the Graduate School of Industry 

Mar. 1, 1998 Established the College of Medicine

(The establishment of the Medical Department was approved on Oct.4. 1995) 

Nov. 1, 2001 Established Cheju National University Hospital 

Feb. 4, 2008 Got Preliminary Approval to establish the Graduate School of Law 

Mar. 1, 2008 Inaugurated through Merger of Cheju National University and Jeju National University of Education Established the Graduate School of Medicine Established the College of Veterinary Medicine
