The Typhoon BOLAVEN started impacting on Jeju on Aug. 27. Rain started in Jeju-city from 1 p.m. Heavy rain dropped at 4 p.m. Strong winds began at 6 p.m.  


Jeju-NU looked after its facilities from Aug. 27 to 28. The division of General Affair's staff made four group and checked drains in the university. Yang Young-Woo (General Affairs, Public works) said, “We can’t stop the wind. But we can protect buildings from flooding. We constantly looked after the drains. We frequently removed leafs”. We can avoid harmful damages from flooding, and the strong wind couldn't do much damage to university facilities. The university got very little damage.        


The colleges' Administration office staffs and the Division of General Affairs staff investigated the harmful effects on Aug. 28. The extent of damages are Administration (1), the College of Applied Life sciences (15), the College of Economics & Commerce (1), the College of Natural Sciences (16), the Student Dormitory (1), the College of Education (27) etc. The damage is about ₩ 93,000,000.   


Jeju-NU will get indemnification from the Education Disaster Benefit Association after Jeju-NU reports damage to the association. Then the person in charge will check the damages. If the reports will be confirmed, Jeju-NU will get indemnification. Then Jeju-NU will start restoration.
