The Islander ranked top among the six teams on the preliminary round of ‘The 4th World Peace Bull-Tuck’, which was held on May 24th by World Environment and Island Studies (WEIS). In this program, The Islander presented about the problem of Jeju’s plan for environmental hub in a few perspectives.

Bull-Tuck worked as a democratic space for haenyeo society, a changing room as well as a place for exchanging their everyday news and their thoughts.

This program, as the name of it shows, reflects the idea of Bull-Tuck and tries to make a democratic arena to discuss subjects of marine life and environment of Jeju.

There were six teams, two teams of the Social Science Department, one team of Russian students, one team of Chinese students, an ROTC team and The Islander team. The subjects of presentations were diverse, including marine life in Jeju, 4.3 incident and so on.

Among those six teams, three to four teams including The Islander, will be in the final.

Ko Chang-Hoon, a professor of Public Administration, said “This program will be continued, but it will be more prepared in advance from the next time.” And he added, “Also, I’m going to make this program as a worldwide official opportunity to discuss not only environmental and marine problems in Jeju, but also in all over the world.
